They are used in shampoos, body washes, nail polishes, and keratin hair treatments.
Formaldehyde is classified by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) as a Group 1 human carcinogen — a confirmed cancer-causing substance. It is also a strong skin sensitizer that triggers allergic contact dermatitis, eye irritation, and respiratory irritation.
