Parabens are a family of synthetic preservatives used in cosmetics for over 70 years to extend product shelf life. The most common are Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Butylparaben, and Ethylparaben. They are found in creams, shampoos, deodorants, makeup, and many other products.
The primary concern is that parabens have estrogen-mimicking activity — they are structurally similar to the hormone estrogen and can bind to estrogen receptors in the body. Studies link them to hormonal imbalance, reproductive issues, and they have been detected in breast tissue. The EU has already banned several parabens (isopropyl, isobutyl, phenyl, benzyl, and pentyl).
NOMI & YOU only carries paraben-free products. All of our brands (INIKA Organic, RAWW Cosmetics) use natural alternative preservatives.
